- It is the fourth largest city in Vermont, with seven banks,
a respected daily newspaper, and an important medical center. It is the economic
center of the community.
- Rutland City encompasses an area of 4,300 acres, consisting
of several commercial areas: Downtown, Woodstock Avenue, and North and South Main Street.
- There are five public elementary schools, one junior and one
senior high school, and the Stafford Technical Center. The Catholic parochial system
includes one grade school and a high school. Several other private schools exist,
both religious and secular.

discernible physical boundaries.
