About
Lake Bomoseen |
|
Lake Bomoseen is the largest
body of water contained solely within the confines of the state of Vermont.
The lake is approximately nine miles long and one mile wide. Lake
Bomoseen is considered to be the most prominent lake within the area known
as the Lakes Region. It is divided into four different areas: the
north end, the main lake itself, the southern end, and the channel.
There are several small streams and tributaries that flow into Lake
Bomoseen. Glenn Lake flows into Bomoseen as well. Lake Bomoseen
is a shallow lake, said to be approximately 65 feet deep at most.
The Lakes Region includes
other nearby bodies such as Lake St. Catherine, Lake Hortonia, Beebe Pond,
and Glenn Lake. These lakes offer a variety of activities including
fishing, hunting, hiking, boating, camping, and more. All of these
lakes are within a 15 minute drive from Castleton. Prospect Bay
Country Club offers 18 challenging holes of golf. Hubbardton
Battlefield is also only a few minutes away.
